The Maldives Meteorological Service indicates that the weather is anticipated to slowly get better in the coming days, after experiencing a period of rain and fierce winds throughout the nation.

The western monsoon is presently sweeping through the Maldives, delivering intense rainfall and resulting in destruction on various islands. MET reports that the northern and central atolls will experience rainfall in the next 24 hours, while the southern atolls will have relatively calmer weather.

Wind speeds are predicted to be 8 - 15 mph in the southern atolls and 10 - 20 mph in the central and northern atolls, which is milder than the windy conditions felt during the previous week.

The MET indicated that the seas in the south will stay tranquil over the next 24 hours. Nevertheless, moderate to progressively rough seas are anticipated in the central and northern atolls as the monsoon system keeps advancing eastward.

When inquired about when the rains might start to lessen, MET stated that showers are expected to continue in the central and northern areas over the next few days, although there are no signs of significant rainfall beyond that time.
