A man who vanished at sea almost 50 years ago is being searched once more to determine if he is living or dead. The Gemanafushi Magistrate Court has released a public announcement concerning the issue.
The announcement, released on Thursday, requests details regarding Hassan Mohamed of Thandi-raiy-maage, G.A. Dhiyadhoo.
The court requests that anyone who knows if Hassan is living or deceased notify the Gemanafushi Magistrate Court within 10 days.
A spokesperson from the Gemanafushi Magistrate Court informed Sun that the request was submitted by Hassan’s son in connection with an inheritance matter.
“The official stated, ‘He was lost in a maritime incident.’”
Dhiyadhoo, previously a populated island, was designated as uninhabited in 2010. A gradually decreasing population made it challenging to maintain an independent island community on Dhiyadhoo, and former inhabitants currently reside in Gemanafushi, G.A. Kondey, or L. Gan.
