Malé City Mayor Adam Azim, noting that certain employees of the Malé City Council are failing to fulfill their responsibilities, reveals that a formal appeal has been made to the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to seek the dismissal of these staff members from their roles.

During SSTV’s ‘Baaru Hathareh’ program, Mayor Azim stated that the presence of staff who do not fulfill their duties and show carelessness has turned into a significant hindrance to the efficient operation of the Council.

He mentioned that the Council gets minimal to no useful input from specific employees, making it harder to enhance and reinforce the institution's functions.

Azim noted that the presence of undisciplined staff who evade their duties and are careless impedes the institution's advancement.

He mentioned that while the Council is facing a lack of dedicated employees, resolving the problem cannot happen without letting go of those who do not fulfill their responsibilities.

Regarding staff attendance, Azim mentioned that certain employees fail to report to work regularly, frequently appearing one day and being absent the next. He observed that the attendance logs of certain employees show they are missing for up to 30 percent of the month.

He emphasized the importance of eradicating unethical behaviors, such as staff checking in at the beginning of the day and then using work hours for tea and coffee breaks outside.

Mayor Azim additionally claimed that there are structural problems within the Civil Service Commission, asserting that the Commission has not supported the Council’s initiatives to provide services to the community. He stated that workers who do not fulfill their duties should be either reassigned to different agencies or brought back by the Commission.
