The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has issued a forecast predicting scattered rain and thunderstorms across the northern and southern atolls on Friday. The latest weather update indicates that rainfall will continue in these regions until 6:00 p.m. today, with some islands experiencing thunderstorms. The central atolls are also expected to see occasional showers during the same timeframe.

Winds are anticipated to vary throughout the country, with southwesterly to westerly winds blowing in the southern atolls. The rest of the nation is likely to experience westerly to northwesterly winds at speeds between 8 and 18 miles per hour, with gusts possibly reaching up to 35 miles per hour during rain showers.

Sea conditions are generally expected to stay moderate, though rough seas may occur during gusty winds. Wave heights are projected to range from three to six feet.

Recent rainfall data collected over the past 24 hours shows that Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll received the highest amount of rain. Between 8:00 a.m. Thursday and 8:00 a.m. Friday, GDh. Kaadedhdhoo recorded 20.4 millimeters, followed by GDh. Thinadhoo with 16.7 millimeters, and Fuvahmulah City with 10.5 millimeters.

Other notable rainfall figures include Lh. Olhuvelifushi with 9.7 millimeters, GA. Kooddoo with 7.5 millimeters, and ADh. Maamigili with 6.5 millimeters.

Additional measurements show M. Muli received 3.5 millimeters of rain, Hithadhoo in Addu City recorded 3.3 millimeters, and Sh. Funadhoo experienced 2.4 millimeters. Hulhumalé saw 2.2 millimeters, while B. Goidhoo, K. Dhiffushi, and G.Dh. Faresmaathodaa each recorded 2.0 millimeters. The least rainfall was observed in N. Maafaru and B. Dharavandhoo, both with 1.0 millimeter.
