Ahmed Eelaf Nadeem is creating a new chapter in the legacy of Maldivian martial arts. Waving the national flag in the global Muay Thai arena and earning gold medals, Eelaf recently took part in the Pro Muay Thai Championships in Sri Lanka, clinching his second international gold medal to the joy of the whole country.

Eelaf has had a deep interest in martial arts and combat sports since his childhood. He established the groundwork for his fitness and Muay Thai journey at FightSoul Maldives and the Maldives Muay Thai Academy. Head coach Mohamed Shanaz significantly contributed to developing Eelaf into an athlete ready for international competition. With Shanaz’s direction, Eelaf underwent an extensive training period and achieved notable advancement in the ring.

Eelaf secured the gold medal in the middleweight 76kg division at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Sri Lanka. He confronted Sri Lanka’s seasoned contender Isur, yet with bravery, tactics, and poise, Eelaf excelled in the match and achieved a landmark triumph.

Eelaf has secured gold at the Pro Muay Thai Championships for the second year in a row. His triumph is the outcome of months of dedicated training and resolute commitment. Prior to the tournament, the athletes from the Maldives underwent a unique training camp in Sri Lanka.

Eelaf, mentored by Maldivian Muay Thai instructor Mohamed Shanaz, along with Daniel Ahmed Zaki from the same team, received training in Sri Lanka from Wimukithi Abenayaka of Vanquish Muay Thai and Fitness. Daniel put forth an outstanding effort, battling Sri Lanka’s Fahad intensely right up to the last moment.

Eelaf’s recent gold medal contributes to his expanding list of accomplishments. In February of this year, he triumphed over one of Sri Lanka’s leading athletes to secure his initial gold medal in Muay Thai.
