Civil Court Judge Abdulla Ihusaan has been put on 60 day suspension due to a sexual harassment case, and is currently being investigated by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
According to the reports following the suspension, JSC has stated it is temporary as his continuation of the post could potentially hinder the investigation, and the decision was made due to the nature of the case, whilst simultaneously maintaining public confidence in the judiciary.
According to the commission, statements have been obtained from Ihusaan, as well as the others involved in the case.
Furthermore, it has also been stated that Civil Court employees had submitted conduct-related complaints prior to the investigation, though it has been confirmed the current suspension directly correlates with the sexual harassment allegation.
The JSC has now disclosed further details to the public, and has not provided a timeline for when the investigation will have concluded.
