Four people were left injured in a gas cylinder explosion in a house in Male’ city, where two people were found to be in critical condition.
Police have reported the fire had occurred in a 5 bedroom apartment where 15 people lived, at 5:27 am shortly after the gas cylinder exploded.
The fire was brought under control by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and Rescue Service, as well as a team from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) who were noted to be on the scene as well.
The injured individuals were stated to be two people of Bangladeshi national, alongside two people of Indian nationality, who are currently being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), although details regarding the injury has not yet been released.
At the moment, police are investigating the incident further.
