Abdulla Yaasir has been named the Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation.

This marks the third Managing Director that the current government has appointed to the corporation since assuming power.

The position of MD at Visit Maldives, previously called MMPRC, was left open following Ibrahim Shiuree's resignation on Monday. The cause of his resignation is still uncertain. Yet, prior to resigning, he held a meeting with staff on Monday.

Shiuree was the second MD selected by this administration. The initial one was Fathimath Thaufeeg (Kudy).

Abdulla Yaasir is a prominent Maldivian artist, writer, and civil-society figure hailing from S. Feydhoo.

He engages with digital and mixed media to capture and recreate the unwritten history of the Maldives, including his published visual history book 'The Maldives We Remember: A Visual History of a Vanishing World'. In addition to his work in the arts, he is the Founder and President of the Entrepreneurs Association of Maldives and co-hosts the national Entrepreneurship Talk Show, where he engages in conversations about business growth and local enterprises.
