As a way to mark 60 years of diplomacy between Pakistan and Maldives, around 2,000 people in Nilandhoo were screened for cancer, conducted by the Cancer Society of Maldives (CSM), under a “Cancer Awareness & Screening” campaign.

The president of CSM, Mr. Hussain Rasheed Moosa delivered the welcoming remarks at the inauguration of the ceremony, followed by President of the Atoll Council, Mr. Ali Ahmed who expressed gratitude for the support extended by the people of Pakistan, as well as the Government before both dignitaries made note of the long-standing historic friendship between Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Moreover, Madam Juwairiya Saeed, Chairperson of CSM elaborated on the pertinent features of cancer screening whilst emphasizing on the benefits it brings to the healthcare of members of the public.

The High Commissioner showed appreciation to the remarkable social work of CSM leadership and the team, by highlighting the importance of these initiatives in improving healthcare amongst the islands.

In addition, he stated Pakistan’s involvement will strengthen the bonds between the people of Maldives and Pakistan, as well as reflect the strong bond between the two countries.

Moreover, the High Commissioner, as well as mission officials paid a visit to the Nilandhoo Hospitals where they held an interactive session with the doctor’s team, after which they visited the faculty of F. Atoll Education Centre in order to discuss potential opportunities for a partnership in the education sector.
