Thoriq Ibrahim, the Maldives' newly appointed Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has committed to enhancing bilateral relations and collaboration between the two nations.

Ambassador Thoriq officially commenced his diplomatic mission after delivering his Letter of Credence to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, in a ceremony at Qasr Al Watan.

Sheikh Mohamed greeted the Maldivian envoy and extended his congratulations on the start of his diplomatic mission, wishing him success in this new position.

In the meeting, Ambassador Thoriq sent greetings and best wishes from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the Maldivian government, and the citizens of Maldives to the President, government, and people of the UAE.

He also reiterated his dedication to enhancing the enduring friendship and strong collaboration between the Maldives and the UAE during his time in office.

The Maldives and the UAE formed diplomatic ties on March 15, 1978. Thoriq Ibrahim is the seventh ambassador from the Maldives to be accredited in the UAE.

The two nations have upheld enduring diplomatic relations, with collaboration spanning multiple domains of shared interest.
