Two men have been arrested and sentenced in a drug operation that took place in Hulhumale’ in 2025, they've been sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in jail after a plea deal, as well as both having to pay the fine of MVR 50,000.

The drug operation was conducted by Drug Enforcement, alongside Counter Narcotics Intelligence, where they arrested the suspects Ibrahim Risfan, aged 25, HDh. Neykurendhoo, from Male’ City, on April 19th of 2025.

Moreover, they searched 3 apartments, 2 cars, 2 motorcycles, across 3 towers in Hulhumale’ phase II, where they recovered 968.8 grams of substances.

Risfan and Zain were charged with trafficking Dimorphine in July of 2025, in which they both pled guilty and entered plea agreements with the prosecution. 

Both of their sentences were reduced in half, resulting in 12 years and 6 months in prison, as well as the initial MVR 100,000 fine being reduced to MVR 50,000 each, under the agreement.
