Shaheeb Media has successfully finished its ‘Advanced Media Sensitization Training Program’ for media and public relations (PR) personnel from different government agencies and organizations, with certificates awarded to 25 attendees last night.
Certificates were presented to graduates of the 10-day program, conducted in Malé from August 23 to Thursday, by Chief Guest and Minister of Youth and Sports Abdulla Rafiu. Other notable attendees who were awarded certificates were State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Abdulla Hameed, and Dhidhdhoo MP Abdul Latheef Mohamed.
During the ceremony, Dr. Fahmy emphasized that verification must be the top priority in sharing news. He observed that, well before modern press freedom was established, Islam had highlighted the significance of confirming the accuracy and honesty of information. He emphasized that safeguarding human dignity and reputation are values held in high regard within Islamic teachings.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mariyam Neena, a Customer Service Executive at Island Aviation, stated that the 20-hour training equipped them with essential knowledge and hands-on experiences. She mentioned that the experience had revitalized their dedication to interacting effectively with the media to enhance their organizations' public perception. Neena also remarked that the programme offered enhanced clarity on crafting news reports in straightforward and accessible Dhivehi that the general public can easily comprehend.
The program was led by Mohamed Shaheeb, the President and CEO of Shaheeb Media, boasting 35 years of experience in journalism in the Maldives. Guest lectures were presented by Chief Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef and Bank of Maldives (BML) Spokesperson Mohamed Saeed.
