The international platform “Superbrands,” which recognises some of the world’s most renowned brands, has been introduced in the Maldives.

According to a statement issued by Transmedia Private Limited, “Superbrands Maldives” was officially launched at a special ceremony held in Malé. The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Ali Hussain Didi. Speaking at the ceremony, Ali Hussain Didi said that Superbrands would not only help recognise prominent brands but would also create opportunities for new innovations. He also highlighted that the initiative would encourage businesses to provide high-quality services.

Chairman of Superbrands Maldives and Managing Director of Transmedia, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, said the initiative represents a major opportunity for Maldivian businesses and service providers to demonstrate their capabilities at an international level.

Meanwhile, Superbrands Coordinator Shareeful Islam said the initiative is not simply about recognising brands, but also provides a platform that establishes standards for improving quality and encourages brands to reach international standards.

Participation in Superbrands and Its Benefits

The initiative, which is being conducted as part of the Global Superbrands Programme, is open only to organisations that are invited to participate. According to the organisers, brands that receive “Superbrands Status” will gain a number of benefits.

These include:

  • Increased brand reputation and credibility in both local and international markets.

  • Greater customer confidence, by demonstrating that the brand is among the best in its respective category.

  • Greater media exposure through Superbrands publications and marketing campaigns across a wider range of platforms.

Superbrands, which was established in London 32 years ago, currently operates in more than 85 countries, according to Transmedia’s statement.

At the ceremony, the names of the 15 members of the Superbrands Maldives Council were also announced. The first edition of the programme, which will recognise the Maldives’ Superbrands, is scheduled to be held in early 2027.
