Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim plans to visit the Maldives next week.

A high-ranking government official verified the planned visit to Sun on Tuesday.

The source states that PM Anwar is set to arrive on Monday and depart the following day.

Nonetheless, chief government spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) has not replied to text messages asking for confirmation about the visit.

The imminent trip will see PM Anwar participating in the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, from Friday through Sunday.

In April, Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu undertook a four-day state visit to Malaysia at the invitation of PM Anwar.

The visit resulted in several cooperation agreements being exchanged between the two nations in sectors like healthcare, sports, and tourism.
