Twenty-five police officers from the Maldives have finished a Seminar on Law Enforcement and Counter-Terrorism in Hebei Province, China, arranged by the China People’s Police University (CPPU). The program took place from 4 September until the previous Thursday.

Maldives Police reported that the training was designed to boost the force’s ability to address terrorism, highlighting that violent extremist and terrorist organizations cause significant damage, fatalities, and human rights abuses, while also improving intelligence-driven policing through advanced digital technologies.

Throughout the seminar, participants gained hands-on training in preliminary hazard identification, risk evaluation, swift response, and management of the incident site. The curriculum included security management for major events and public gatherings, an essential element of counter-terrorism readiness.

The Maldivian team was headed by Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Rashwan. The group comprised one Superintendent, five Chief Inspectors, and 18 Police Inspectors.

The seminar stressed the significance of global collaboration in recognizing and addressing terrorism threats, illustrating how international teamwork enhances early warning systems and operational preparedness.

Authorities stated that the training will improve the operational abilities of Maldivian officers and aid current initiatives to bolster national security. The initiative was carried out as part of a set of capacity-building programs backed by the Chinese Government, focused on creating a police force equipped with contemporary technology and sophisticated policing methods.
