A woman injured in a serious collision involving two motorcycles on Sosun Magu on Sunday night remains in critical condition, ADK Hospital confirmed on Monday night.

Police received a report of the accident at around 1:13am. Three people were injured in the crash — two Maldivian men aged 21 and 22, and a 26-year-old Maldivian woman.

The woman is currently being treated at ADK Hospital, while the two men were taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). ADK Hospital told Sun that the woman remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). No further details about her condition were disclosed.

Sun was unable to obtain an update on the two men's conditions from IGMH, as the hospital's media official did not respond to calls.

Footage of the crash circulating on social media shows the woman lying on the road with serious head injuries and bleeding. She appeared to be unconscious at the scene, while the two men were also seen with visible injuries.

Police said the 21-year-old rider of one of the motorcycles did not have a valid driving licence. The circumstances of the collision are still under investigation.

Road accidents remain frequent in Malé, with police statistics showing that more than 2,100 accidents have been recorded in the capital so far this year.
