The initial event of the “I Am Maldives” roadshow, arranged by the Maldives National Hotels Guest House Association (NHGAM), took place in Moscow, Russia.

The roadshow, arranged in partnership with Visit Maldives and the Maldives Association for Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), will proceed to St Petersburg on September 23 and Almaty, Kazakhstan, on September 25.

Over 50 delegates from 26 Maldivian tourism businesses, such as resorts, hotels, guesthouses, liveaboards, and travel agencies, are taking part in the roadshow.

Over 90 individuals, comprising tour operators, travel agents, and representatives from the tourism industry, participated in the Moscow event yesterday.

The event included individual networking sessions and presentations showcasing the Maldives as a travel destination. Participants also showcased lodging choices, travel experiences, and eco-friendly tourism projects accessible in the Maldives for the Russian market.

At the event, NHGAM president Abdulla Nasheed (Kaani Abdulla) unveiled the 2026-27 version of the “I Am Maldives” magazine.

At the event, Abdulla stated that the markets in Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and the CIS were some of the key markets for tourism in the Maldives.

He mentioned that the market had expanded annually, with 278,761 tourists from the area traveling to the Maldives last year, reflecting a 23.8 percent rise compared to the prior year.

NHGAM has conducted two roadshows previously under the "I Am Maldives" brand. The roadshow took place last year in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Romania, Poland, and the Czech Republic, with events occurring in Hong Kong and Malaysia at the start of this year.
