Bank of Maldives (BML) has received the Platinum Title Sponsor designation for the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2026 Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony.

The agreement was signed by BML CEO Mohamed Shareef and Visit Maldives Corporation Managing Director Abdulla Yasir.

Visit Maldives announced that the WTA is returning to the Maldives after a decade, highlighting the ceremony as a significant event where global leaders in the tourism sector gather in one location.

Over 40 renowned hotels and resort leaders, tourism boards, government entities, global travel trade media, and airlines will participate in the ceremony.

WTA is an awards event honoring and acknowledging outstanding accomplishments in the global tourism sector, featuring renowned destinations, tourism organizations, and hospitality brands from around the world.

Visit Maldives stated that the Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2026 taking place in the Maldives offers the nation a chance to uphold its status as a top global destination, promote itself to key industry leaders internationally, and enhance professional connections.
