Police Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed states that specific actions will be implemented against individuals who consistently break road-traffic laws and regulations.
In a message shared on police social media on Tuesday, the CP stated that the rights and safety of numerous individuals are being jeopardized due to a small group of people who disregard fundamental road-traffic regulations.
He stated that the Police Service will consequently carry out specific measures against habitual violators of traffic regulations. He stated that the measures are intended to ensure safety and security on roads for everyone.
The CP stated that the most severe measures will be implemented to avoid hazardous situations from happening again because of the actions of a small number of individuals. He mentioned that all pertinent departments within the Police Service have been directed to implement these measures at the highest standard, working together with all associated agencies.
The actions will be carried out in both the Greater Malé Area and the atolls, he stated.
The CP called on the public to provide complete support to the Maldives Police Service.
Lately, there has been a rise in perilous accidents, including recorded events illustrating careless driving on bridges and roads. Authorities have been examining these incidents. Traffic congestion has grown in the capital, and there has been a rise in accidents, injuries, and deaths as well.
