Former Home Minister Mohamed Shihab and former Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Nazim have joined Jumhooree Party (JP). Shihab is known to be close to former president Mohamed Nasheed, while Nazim was once close to former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in M. Kunooz today, JP leader Qasim Ibrahim said that the two politicians' joining the party was a boost for JP and would increase people's respect and love for the party.

Shihab said that he was ready to do everything possible to ensure that JP came to power, based on his political experience. Nazim said that the Maldives was now at a crossroads, and efforts should be made to take the country to the right direction. He said he had no doubt that he would be able to achieve that mission with JP.
