In a stern condemnation, the Maldives has denounced the Israeli bombing of the headquarters of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza. In an official press release, the Maldivian government declared such assaults on civilians and civilian infrastructure as blatant violations of international humanitarian law, deeming them wholly unacceptable.

The Maldives expressed grave concern over the ongoing military aggression by Israel, characterizing the actions as potential war crimes. The statement highlighted the tragic toll on innocent civilians, detailing the destruction of critical infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, aid facilities, residential buildings, and places of worship.

Reiterating its commitment to upholding international norms, the Maldives urged the global community to take decisive action to halt attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure immediately. The island nation also called for an urgent and sustained humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the need for unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.

Additionally, the Maldives underscored its unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine, asserting their inherent right to self-determination. The nation emphasized its belief that a lasting resolution to the conflict hinges on the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, grounded in the borders predating the 1967 Six-Day War.

As tensions persist in the region, the Maldives stands firm in its advocacy for a just and peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to address the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
