Maldives Tourism Surges with Over 63,000 Operational Tourist Beds and Record Visitor Arrivals

In a recent update, the Ministry of Tourism in the Maldives has disclosed that the nation currently boasts over 63,000 operational tourist beds. According to the latest statistics released by the ministry, as of November 21, a total of 63,085 tourist beds were available across 1,274 facilities.


Breaking down the numbers, the statistics revealed that 42,817 beds are operational in 175 resorts, 15,120 beds in 922 guesthouses, 1,940 beds in 14 hotels, and 3,208 beds in 163 liveaboards. Impressively, the Maldives has witnessed an addition of 3,460 beds for tourism throughout the course of this year.


This growth in available beds aligns with the increasing trend in tourist arrivals. The government reports a substantial 13.1% year-on-year increase, with 1.6 million tourists having visited the Maldives thus far in 2023. In a bold aim, the government is striving to achieve a record-breaking 1.8 million tourists by the year's end.
