The Hirimaradhoo council convened a meeting with Local Governance Minister Adam Shareef today, during which they formally requested a change in jurisdiction to Thulusdhoo in the Kaafy Atoll. Council members and office bearers expressed that this transition is aimed at providing residents with improved living conditions and enhanced opportunities for a better quality of life.
Minister Adam Shareef acknowledged that this request stems from the concerns of the residents of Hirimaradhoo.
According to official records, the island has a population of 293 people, out of which 260 are Maldivians. Additionally, a total of 584 individuals are registered under Hirimaradhoo.
The council's appeal highlights their desire for development and better prospects for the community, reflecting a proactive approach towards improving the circumstances of the island’s inhabitants.
