Former President Abdulla Yameen has called to Publish the names of individuals who allegedly benefited from the funds misappropriated during the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) scandal during his administration. Emphasizing the necessity for transparency, Yameen remarked on the critical need for the public to be informed about those who received financial gains from the stolen resources.

During a recent gathering of his party , President Yameen pointed out that Minister of Homeland Security, Ihusaan calling him “Mega Minister”, is aggressively publicizing the names of local companies that have failed to pay visa and other expatriate-related fees. However, he critiqued the ministry for its lack of action regarding the disclosure of details concerning expatriates who are reportedly living in the country illegally.

In addition, he referenced a prior announcement by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who indicated in July that the government plans to recover MVR 13 billion in receivables. Yameen underlined that transparency concerning those who benefited from the corruption within the MMPRC is paramount, stating, "This is what the people need to know."

Yameen’s calls for accountability echo a broader demand for justice and transparency within the Maldivian political landscape, amidst ongoing discussions regarding the consequences of the MMPRC scandal.
